An individual who spiked treats with sedative and gave them to minors at a summer camp in the region has confessed to sexual offenses against two young males both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.
However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She explained his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he ran.
Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She stated the defendant had been able to explain this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had suspicions in summer 2025.
The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his stepson had suspicions about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They decided to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel said objects including baby oil, Vaseline and injection devices were discovered, and his family member contacted the police about his worries.
She stated the defendant continued to play the "sweet game" with six boys that night - that Saturday - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was reviewing the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior explained the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the stepson called the police once more.
She stated Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
